Children & Youth

Children and Youth are vital to our church. They often lead us in teaching us how to follow Jesus well. No matter how young you are, you are on your spiritual journey. We hope IHUMC is a place where kids feel that they are welcomed, important and loved.

Children’s Ministry
Kids are the greatest! They have such a neat way about thinking about faith. Here at IHUMC, we welcome kids birth-5th grade to spend Sunday morning 10:15-12:00 at Kid’s Worship. During their time together, they will pray, talk about Jesus and have fun playing.

Youth Ministry
We love for youth to be involved in the life of our church. God does amazing things through teenagers. Once a month we gather together as a small group for coffee. We call this awesome meetup: “Kickin it with Katherine.” Pastor Katherine is always happy to connect with youth who are exploring real questions about life and faith. Feel free to email her at pastorkeblingfrazier@gmail.com or add her on Facebook.

Safe Gatherings
The key volunteers in our children’s and youth ministry have been through Safe Gatherings— a faith-based boundary awareness and abuse prevention program developed by the United Methodist Church. The certificate program entails the successful passing of a training course and background check, for all (including clergy, staff and volunteers) who will work with children, youth and developmentally disabled adults in any church setting.

Special Events
We offer opportunities for children in the neighborhood who may not attend a church of their own (or who may not attend Indian Heights UMC, but are churched elsewhere) a safe, fun place of fellowship. Examples of this include Parent’s Night Out, October “Trunk or Treat” and our April “Blessing of the Animals” events. Stay tuned for our seasonal kid’s events.

The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. The Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon you and give you peace.

June 28, 2018: “And Craig was Smiling”

Be Brave: My faith journey; finding grace, mercy, love and healing in the midst of chaos: "And Craig was Smiling"    Continue Reading →

My name is Ali, and this is me. I am who I am and believe that God put me on this world to spread the Good News of Christ to all of God’s people. To let them know they are valued, they are worthy, and they are deserving of belonging. Our world is broken and my own story is one of abundance, belovedness, family, heartbreak, hope. If you like what you read…share it…if you don’t, that’s ok – we can still be friends. God bless…and always know YOU are loved, YOU are ENOUGH, and YOU BELONG.  ~ Pastor Ali
